Whithorn's local amenities

Despite having been a mediaeval city, Whithorn, a short walk from Bishopton, now has a population of just over 900, but is still regarded as a town.

Whithorn has a full range of shops, banks and a post office. Most of the town centre is part of a conservation area and Whithorn has been the subject of considerable investment by Historic Scotland to upgrade the attractive streetscape.

There is also an excellent delicatessen, a cafe and fish & chip shop and a visitor centre charting Whithorn’s rich heritage.
